Medical Equipment
Much of the equipment that falls under the definition of “medical” is standard physicians' equipment such as stethoscopes and anatomical charts, but there is a lot of equipment that is used more generally within the medical community.
Among the essentials are: scrubs, x-ray machines, x-ray illuminators, cabinets, exam tables, surgical trays and surgical tools. These are just a mere sample of the many pieces of equipment used in the medical field each and every day. Different Types of Medical Equipment: Medical Scrubs Medical scrubs are protective garments worn by surgeons, operating room technicians and assistants during operations and other medical procedures. Standard scrubs are usually made of a blue colored material but often times in doctor and dentist offices the assistants will be wearing scrubs made of brightly colored or printed fabrics. Scrubs in today's medical community can be made of and ordered in a wide variety of colors and patterns to suit your personality or to make you practice unique from all the others. X-Ray Machines and X-Ray Illuminators X-ray machines are essential not only to the radiology field (as one might expect), but the medical field values these two pieces of equipment as well. An X-Ray is a photograph taken with x-rays, or a stream of photos that are used because of their penetrating power. These x-rays are valuable because they can take a photograph of the inside of your body so that doctors can identify any problems with or around the bones of your skeletal system. Once the problem is identified using these x-ray photographs, an accurate treatment can be prescribed. X-Ray Illuminators are important because they allow the doctor to view the x-rays since x-rays don'ts look like other photographs, but rather like the negatives of a photograph. Surgical Tools Surgical tools used in the medical field include but are not limited to scalpels, forceps, sutures, needles, scissors, clamps, cauterizers and dilators. Of course, there are many more that can be used in surgery and each type of surgery has its own specific set of tools that must be used, these are just some of the tools most commonly found on a surgical tray in the operating or emergency room. At Home Medical Equipment Medical equipment is not restricted to just the operating or emergency rooms or even to a physician's office, some medical equipment is available for purchase to use in your home. This makes some tasks much easier, and prevents you from going to go to the doctor's office or medical clinic, especially if mobility is an issue. Some of this equipment includes: bed safety bars, shower chairs, grab bars for around the house, walkers, canes and even equipment for exercise and hot/cold therapy.
